The Sorensen Student Center serves as a central hub for student life at Utah Valley University, bringing together dining, retail, events, and gathering spaces within a vibrant 111,460-square-foot facility.

As part of the renovation and expansion, Resolut provided electrical engineering to integrate new, energy-efficient systems into a building originally constructed in 1975 and renovated multiple times over the decades. With limited existing documentation, our team conducted extensive site investigations to map the building’s power distribution, evaluate available capacity, and coordinate new systems with existing infrastructure.

The completed renovation incorporated energy-efficient lighting, smart windows, hundreds of charging stations, and upgraded electrical systems while allowing the university to remain operational throughout phased construction. Resolut also delivered updated electrical documentation to support UVU’s future renovations and facility planning.

The project received the IIDA Intermountain BEST of the BEST and BEST Play awards, recognizing the collaborative design that transformed the Sorensen Student Center into a cohesive, student-centered campus destination.
