The University of Utah’s America First Ballpark represents a transformative addition to the university’s athletic campus, delivering a state-of-the-art NCAA Division I baseball facility designed to support student-athletes, enhance fan engagement, and provide long-term operational performance. The project established the university’s first dedicated on-campus home for Utah Baseball, replacing the program’s long-standing shared use of Smith’s Ballpark and creating a premier collegiate athletics venue in the heart of campus.

Resolut provided comprehensive engineering services for the project, delivering integrated design solutions for electrical power distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, audiovisual systems, security systems, and fire alarm systems. Our team worked closely with the project stakeholders to coordinate complex building systems, lighting, and sports lighting that support modern athletic operations, broadcast and media requirements, spectator amenities, and critical life safety functions throughout the facility.

The project required careful integration of advanced low-voltage technologies, high-performance lighting systems and reliable electrical infrastructure to support team operations, training facilities, concessions, public gathering areas, and game-day experiences. Resolut’s design approach prioritized system reliability, scalability, energy-conscious performance, and seamless coordination between disciplines to ensure the facility could accommodate evolving technology demands while maintaining operational efficiency and code compliance. Special attention was given to the sports lighting design to enhance visibility for athletes and spectators while supporting broadcast-quality illumination and an elevated fan experience.

Charlie Monfort Field at America First Ballpark officially opened in January of 2026, setting a new standard for collegiate baseball facilities in the region.
