The HUB Office Building Complex

Project Summary

Our MEP designs played a central role in repurposing this large medical research facility into a 74-acre commercial office space. This core & shell project received all the MEP designs to transform this research facility building into an inviting space for a drastically different industry than its original use. Our team stepped up to help overhaul The Hub from a pharmaceutical testing facility to a multi-purpose office building. Creating “The Hub” was a necessary endeavor to make the space appropriate for professionals.

This former Arizona Life Sciences Campus needed a $35M renovation to be transformed into a new office complex, and VBFA carried out the design of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. The project was divided into multiple design and construction phases. The design phases included a demolition package; a 7000 sq. ft. tenant improvements package; a building wide “core & shell” package. The design fee will also include the construction administration efforts associated with each phase. The design team will work closely with each of the project contractors to assist in completing the project in a timely and cost-effective manner. Coordination efforts will be provided to determine the existing equipment that can be salvaged for “resale” or for potential “re-use” within the new building.
