Best Friends Animal Hospital

Project Summary

Best Friends Animal Society and Hospital is the nation’s largest animal sanctuary and is located in the southern portion of Utah. The shelter is now a sanctuary for pets that can be adopted and some who are unadoptable. With proper care and patience, many of the animals found at the shelter find loving homes, while the animals remaining spend the rest of their days in a loving and peaceful environment. Best Friends Animal Society, is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and animal welfare society.

VBFA is proud to have provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and ground source heat pumps for the Best Friends Veterinarian Hospital. The hospital includes exam rooms, x-ray, orthopedic/general surgery, special procedures, isolation and recovery rooms. The project incorporated a combination of fluorescent and LED lighting with day light harvesting and occupancy sensors to maximize efficiency. This allowes the building design to be 15% more energy efficient than required by code. A geothermal ground source loop field was incorporated into the design with heat pumps and a radiant floor heating system for optimal animal comfort.
